my life in christmas carols

The Younger Years - to be sung to the tune of Jingle Bells

Dashing through the slush
In a wood-paneled Caravan
O'er the roads we go
Nothing to the plan.

Horns are blaring loud
Making spirits mad
What fun it is to ride and sing
Harassing mom and dad

Jingle bells! Matthew smells.
Sarah packed a giant dog.
I just need a place to stretch
But Rachel's a space hog - OH!

The Young Adult Years: to be sung to the tune of Walking in a Winter Wonderland

In the yard, we will build a snowman
And pretend that he is Parson Brown

He'll say, "Are you married?"
We'll say, "No man. But you can do the job while you're in town."

Later on, we'll perspire
As we "cuddle" by the fire
To face unafraid
The kid we just made
Not-walking in a winter wonderland.

Present Day Parenthood: to be sung to the tune of The 12 Days of Christmas
(Special thanks to hubby for sharing his creative juices with me on this one!)

One the twelfth day of Christmas my infant gave to me:
Twelve slobbery smooches
Eleven binkies banished
Ten blocks-a-scattered
Nine spoonfuls splattered
Eight minutes-of-mayhem
Seven perfect play-dates
Six loads-a-laundry
Five loaded diapers
Four heaps o' vomit
Three heated tantrums
Two AM wake-ups
And a Cheerio up her nose

For some entertaining alternate renditions with an EMS perspective, check out my sister's blog post on Living with a Wolfhound (yes, it is Sarah, mentioned in the first carol as having brought the giant dog on a trip - which she did - but now she owns a real one).

  1. An even BIGGER real one that takes up even MORE space and drools! Yay I'm glad I'm not the only one taking liberties with Christmas Carols, it's a fun way to stay in the Christmas spirit and keep easily entertained :) Love the ending to "winter wonderland" by the way, haha

  2. haha - and costs even MORE money - Remus vs. Buffy...I think Remus is the "bigger and more" in all categories.
